Emerging plays in Australasia

I will present at the "Emerging plays in Australasia" Meeting of the Geological Society of London, July 17--19th, 2007.

EGU Vienna 2007

I will give a talk on "Testing the interplay of eustacy and mantle driven dynamic topography in Australia" in Session G7/GD15-1TU4O-006, Tuesday 16:45 - 17:00, Lecture Room 6 (K).

Abstract EGU2007-A-04721.

Christian Heine meets Christian Heine

Ok, no more pretending that I also have a second life publishing as reservoir characterization specialist and giving short courses.... At the AAPG meeting in Perth I met Christian (Chris) J. Heine, an American geologist working for Saudi Aramco in Dhahran. Photographic evidence:

AAPG Meeting Perth 2006

I will be presenting two talks at the AAPG meeting in Perth next week, one about the tectonic evolution of the North West Shelf and a second one as reserve speaker on the impact of dynamic topography on intraplate basin evolution.

Lastly, I am also involved in this poster: Goncharov et al., Basement and Crustal Controls on Hydrocarbons Maturation on the Exmouth Plateau, North West Australian Margin

Earth 2006 Melbourne

I presented two talks at the Earth2006 Australian Geological Convention in Melbourne this week:

  • "Anomalous tectonic subsidence in Australian intraplate basins" in the session "Geodynamics of Earth’s Evolution (Basins, breakup and continental evolution)":
  • "Deciphering intraplate basin evolution using open-source software" in the session "Resourcing and Innovation (Geoinformatics)"

PDFs of the talks are available upon request.

This was another reason to go.

The poster I presented at the EGU General Assembly in Vienna is available for download as PDF file. Get it here.

EGU Vienna 2006

My oral presentation and poster have both been accepted at the EGU General Assembly in Vienna, additionally I will co-chair a session in MPRG8 (From plate tectonics to mantle dynamics).

Talk: Christian Heine and R. Dietmar Müller: Linking mantle convection and intraplate basin evolution - a way to decipher anomalous tectonic subsidence?
Session GD11, lecture room 6 (K) on Friday, 7 April 2006, 18:00.
.... 6pm, Friday.... Abstract here (PDF) and session overview here.

Poster: Heine, C.; Müller, R. D.; Steinberger, B.; Torsvik, T.: Anomalous tectonic subsidence in intraplate basins (solicited)
Author in Attendance: Friday, 7 April 2006 08:30 - 10:00 Display Time: Friday, 7 April 2006 08:00 - 19:30

Conferences 2006

I have submitted abstracts for the EGU General Assembly (Vienna/AUT), the German DGMK meeting in Celle (April 20/21), the Australian Earth Science Convention (Earth2006, Melbourne) and the AAPG Int. Conf. (Perth/AUS).
