Pretty good job here.
Organization:
Easy to read but are too many things with little relevance to the E.Report topics.
Your section Type of Collisions is mainly about subduction zones: Subduction of an ocean under a ocean; subduction of an ocean under a continent, etc
Subduction may or may not involve collision (which implies surface shortening of a portion of a lithosphere). In the section ocean-ocean collision and ocean-continent collision it is hard not to find a reference to ophiolite. Ophiolitic nappes develop as a result of collision involving at least one oceanic plate.
The section Mechanism of Plate Motion is about the geodynamic of plate tectonics. To be relevant the tectonic forces should have been presented in the context of collision in a similar way that in the section Role of Gravity. In that section the figure 4.3 could have been better commented.
The section about Gravitational Collapse is ridiculously short.
The section on Thermal and Mechanical consequences could have been expanded. It is mainly based on GEOS Module1. In your report you should have go a bit further.
Figures:
There are well referenced but not all are described in an appropriate manner. .
Your choice of pictures seems at time a bit odd such as the animation showing strike-slip faults. I have mpg movies showing brittle extension in the upper crust and ductile extension in the lower crust (GEOS3003 module 2) that would have been more appropriate for an E.Report on continental rifting.
In the page "Example" the last image should be properly oriented. On the picture the reader is looking south toward the Alps.
Questions: Good stuff
Reference: Pretty good
Glossary: Nice effort, but
1/ please check the spelling of Aesthenosphere. 2/ Find a better definition for GPE, yours is wrong in particular it does not involve energy transfer.
Comments on the content.
Type of Collision. Not much to say here except the this is pretty basic sort of 1st year level stuff. I would have expected something more elaborated.
Mechanism of Plate Motion. Here also good stuff but too general and not in the context of collision.
Role of gravity. A bit easy as it is a repetition of Module 1.
Gravitational Collapse. Could have been included in Mechanical Consequences
The forward link should read: Thermal and Mechanical Consequences instead of Thermal and Mechanical Processes.
Thermal and Mechanical Consequences. Here again a mere repetition of GEOS3003 Module 1.
Examples of Collisional Tectonics.
The Section Example of Collisional Tectonics is good but 10 lines and four poor quality figures is a bit short. The illustration is a bit disappointing. This section should have been focussed on the figure 6.5 from Giovanni (2003).
Overall this is a well organized Report. However the level of most of the section is far to basic. Some of the concepts the report could have developed includes: Metamorphism and PTt paths in collisional orogen, thermal consequences of underthrusting and overthrusting, lateral extrusion (indeed, collision is not always accommodated by thickening), Collision and Plateau, elastic response and the development of flexural basins.
