Project Details

The aims of this pilot project are to identify, access and map (using geospatial methods) data on the (1) incidence of antibiotic resistant infections in Greater Sydney by hospital admissions; (2) issue of antibiotic prescriptions at pharmacies along a transect from the eastern to western suburbs of Sydney in order to explore patterns of antibiotic use associated with socio-demographic characteristics of the patients.

It is expected that this novel analysis will provide new empirical evidence of spatial trends in antibiotic resistance not previously identified.
