Project Details

An increase in the number and type of disasters has seen a steady rise in human, and financial losses to various communities. In response to these hazards, various communities around the world have implemented civil defense programs. These programs have evolved into technically complex emergency/disaster management disciplines, which are often supported by emergency/disaster managers. In Australia, there are various types of roles that employ emergency managers. This pilot study examined the qualifications, training, knowledge, competence and confidence of government emergency managers (Local emergency management officers and District emergency management officers) within New South Wales (NSW).
