Affiliated Centres & Programs

The School of Geosciences enjoys partnerships with several other units within the University and with organisations outside of the University. These partnerships focus on the development of rich, collaborative research programs.

The School of Geosciences is proud to partner with the following organisations:

  • The University of Sydney Institute of Marine Science
    Alongside the School of Biological Sciences, USIMS research covers a range of areas including coastal ecology, seabed dynamics, marine engineering, marine biology and the simulation and visualisation of marine processes.
  • The Australian Mekong Resources Centre
    The AMRC partners our expertise in South-East Asia development and environmental issues with our colleagues at the University's Research Institute for Asia and the Pacific (RIAP) and colleagues in partner institutions through the Mekong region.
  • Research Institute for Asia and the Pacific
    RIAP partners our expertise in South-East Asia development and environmental issues with our colleagues at the University's Australian Mekong Resources Centre and colleagues in partner institutions through the South-East Asia region.
  • The Earth Resources Foundation
    The ERF helps promote study and research in the earth sciences, with recent activities including a major investment in the promotion of research into the causes of soil and water salinisation and options for its management.
  • EarthByte
    EarthByte is an e-research project aimed at implementing interoperability of plate tectonic data and geodynamic computing services for applied and fundamental research purposes.

Our associations with organisations outside of the University are just as rewarding. The School has many longstanding relationships with various industry bodies, state and federal agencies. Organisations such as Exxon Mobil, the Cooperative Research Centre for Mining Technology & Equipment (CMTE), Geoscience Australia and the Sydney Olympic Park Authority.
