Affiliated Centres & Programs
The School of Geosciences enjoys partnerships with several other units within the University and with organisations outside of the University. These partnerships focus on the development of rich, collaborative research programs.
The School of Geosciences is proud to partner with the following organisations:
- The University of Sydney Institute of Marine Science
Alongside the School of Biological Sciences, USIMS research covers a range of areas including coastal ecology, seabed dynamics, marine engineering, marine biology and the simulation and visualisation of marine processes. - The Mekong Research Group (AMRC)
The Mekong Research Group (AMRC) is a focal point for data and information, international scholarship and policy-oriented research, training and outreach, and discussion and debate on development and environment issues in the Mekong Region. Established in 1997, AMRC has achieved a reputation as a leading centre of regional expertise, and it has also established a name in fields such as transboundary water governance. - Research Institute for Asia and the Pacific
RIAP partners our expertise in South-East Asia development and environmental issues with our colleagues at the University's Australian Mekong Resource Centre and colleagues in partner institutions through the South-East Asia region. - EarthByte
EarthByte is an e-research project aimed at implementing interoperability of plate tectonic data and geodynamic computing services for applied and fundamental research purposes.
Our associations with organisations outside of the University are just as rewarding. The School has many longstanding relationships with various industry bodies, state and federal agencies. Organisations such as Exxon Mobil, the Cooperative Research Centre for Mining Technology & Equipment (CMTE), Geoscience Australia and the Sydney Olympic Park Authority.
