Research

Dr. Hong Yang is currently a senior scientist at the Swiss Federal Institute for Aquatic Science and Technology, Switzerland. She is the group leader for Water, Food and Environment Studies in the Department of Systems Analysis, Integrated Assessment and Modelling. She also holds a visiting professorship at the Institute of Geographical Science and Natural Resources Research, in the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Dr. Hong Yang’s main research interests include integrated water resources management, water scarcity and its impacts on food security and implications for the global food trade, regional development, poverty alleviation, water and environmental policies.

Dr. Hong Yang is a visiting scholar in the School of Geosciences at the University of Sydney between 4 July 2010 and 15 January 2011. The main purposes of this visit are: 1) to learn the latest development in research and practice concerning integrated water resources management in Australia; 2) to explore opportunities for research collaboration on issues relating to ‘virtual water trade’, environmental flow determination, agricultural water management, etc.
