Thesis Title: Environmental Risk Assessment of Contaminated Groundwater Discharge to an Estuarine Embayment.

James is currently examining the environmental risk posed by the discharge of contaminated groundwater into a tidal estuarine embayment of Botany Bay. Groundwater discharging into the estuary is contaminated with a complex mixture of volatile chlorinated hydrocarbons. James research includes derivation of site-specific water quality guidelines using indigenous marine organisms and development of probabilistic techniques to quantify the environmental risk posed by the contamination. James research also includes an evaluation of the ANZECC and ARMCANZ (2000) water quality guidelines for indigenous marine organisms.
