The Earth Resources Foundation

Dryland SalinityThe Earth Resources Foundation is one of the foundations within the University of Sydney. It has been in operation since 1976.

Its purpose, in accordance with its Constitution, is to promote, develop and assist in education, study and research in the earth sciences.

Its funds are raised from donations, some for specified projects, membership fees and gains from the organising of workshops, symposia and the like.

The entire control, management and conduct of the business and affairs of the Foundation is vested in the Council, appointed by the Senate of the University.

The membership of the Council consists of some specified prominent staff of the University, including the Chancellor, the Edgeworth David Professor of Geology and the Head of the School of Geosciences as ex officio members; a Director, Honorary Governor and industry representatives.

The officers of the Council are the President, Vice-President and General Manager/Secretary.

Throughout its existence, the Foundation has been supported by over 100 industry members.
